Stronger and more stable than the average domestic grinder, the Encore is the perfect entry-level grinder with forty accurate and repeatable grind settings covering the gamut of brewing methods.
While it's best suited to the medium-fine grind of manual brew methods (stovetop, pourover, Aeropress, Chemex, syphon and the like), its capabilities extend to a coarse plunger grind as well as the fineness of espresso, although espresso machines that like their coffee extra-fine (such as the Rancilio Silvia, or our Slayers) may need to look elsewhere for their perfect match.
To set your grinder for your brewing device, Padre recommends taking the coffee dose and brew time recommended by the manufacturer as a starting point and varying your grind degree (coarser to speed up extraction, finer to slow it) to try and line them up.
In addition to 40 stepped grind settings (a grind range of 250 to 1200 microns) the Encore features a pulse function for grinding on demand. The conical burrs are 40mm hardened steel, and the powerful 450 RPM motor has a gear speed reducer to minimise heat and static build up, as well as an automatic thermal cutoff to prevent the grinder ever overheating.
