General FAQ

Our coffee's optimal drinking time is within 21 days of the roast date. We don't recommend drinking coffee in the first few days after roast while it is degassing, and prefer our espresso at 7 - 21 days post roast. As with all things brewing, it's worth doing a little experimentation to see what suits your palate and your brewing method best.

We roast and ship to order Monday, Wednesday and Friday, except for public holidays, when dispatch dates transfer to the next available business day.
All orders are roasted by and shipped from our Brunswick East roastery.

Great question. An airtight bag or jar that’s kept out of the sun (and not in the fridge) will do just fine. So long as you keep your coffee away from airflow, moisture, heat and light (the enemies of freshness) it will keep nicely.

Subscriptions FAQ

The golden rule of buying coffee is to buy fresh and frequent, so we roast and ship subscription coffee fortnightly. If you find you can’t keep up, it’s easy to pause your shipments via our online portal and resume as soon as you’re ready for more.

That’s up to you. You can choose how much coffee you’d like each fortnight and we’ll roast, pack (and grind it should you wish) before we send it out.

Each fortnight the Padre roasters choose the best of the fresh to send to you. Sometimes this will be a gorgeous single origin, sometimes two – sometimes it be a blend of origins that just happens to be really on point that week.
Whatever we choose, it will be guaranteed fresh, different and delicious.

Sorry, but the nature of the subscription is that it’s different every time. Don’t worry, though - if you fall hopelessly in love with one of our subscription coffees, you can always order more via our webshop and pause your subscription while you enjoy another bag.

For subscriptions - postage is included. You won’t pay any extra to receive your fortnightly coffee shipment. Postage for products purchased via the web store - this includes products purchased at the same time as subscriptions, and products bought using subscription discount codes - is $9 for Standard Shipping or $15 Express.

Depending on your location, we’ll ship either via Australia Post, Fastway Couriers or Couriers Please. The courier asks for signature on delivery, so if you’d rather not sign just make a note of it in the comments at checkout. This also applies for requests to have your order left in a safe place if the address is unattended.

Of course. The day your order ships you'll recieve an email update with tracking information for your order so you can follow its progress from our roastery to your door.

Great idea - of course you can! We’ll send a card out to the lucky recipient letting them know that you’ve signed them up and confirming their coffee preferences with them and then include them in the next round of subscription shipments. If you'd like us to hold off on starting the subscription, or to deliver the card yourself, that's no problem either - just let us know.

No worries. Change your mailing address via the subscription portal on our website.

Tastes change, we understand. If you’d like to update your subscription to change the roast type or grind setting for your coffee, just give us a call on (03) 9380 8225 or email orders@padrecoffee.com.au

If you’re buying a six or twelve-month subscription we’ll send you a voucher code with confirmation of your order as a little thank-you gift. Vouchers are redeemable on any purchase from the Padre webshop. As orders placed via the webshop ship separately to subscription coffee, standard postage rates do apply.
