Since launching, the Baratza Sette has become one of the most talked about releases in years - words like revolutionary and holy grail have been thrown around, and by people who know what they're talking about.
In short, it's a broad departure from traditional domestic grinders, with massive improvements to simplicity, efficiency & durability, refined looks, a tiny footprint and precise grind-by-weight technology courtesy of bluetooth legends Acaia.
Unlike other contemporary grinders, the Sette 270W features a vertical grind path via a rotating outer burr and a fixed inner burr. The outer rotation enables the steel 40mm conical burrs to grind up to 5.5g of coffee per second - far faster than any other grinder of its size, and the vertical path of the coffee means less heat and static are generated in the process with very low grind retention.
The Sette 270W has 30 macro settings covering espresso to french press and everything in between as well as 9 micro settings to fine-tune.
Perhaps most impressively (it's hard to say with a product this impressive) is the 270W's grind-by-weight feature which, thanks to acaia, is easy and efficient. The Sette allows for three dose settings, so brewing to a repeatable recipe is easier than ever, and coffee grinds straight into your portafilter (or grounds bin, if you prefer.)
