This elegant coffeemaker uses the classic cold-drip method to produce a full-flavoured cold drip coffee. Store your extraction in the fridge and drink it neat over ice or with a splash of chilled milk.
A precision metal valve controls the drip, ensuring perfect drop-by-drop percolation, and coffee flows through the stainless-steel filter and paper filter (included) into the heat-treated glass pot below, resulting in a pure, richly flavoured brew.
This is a gorgeous, premium cold dripper from Japanese glass masters Hario, exactly the model that we use in store and highly recommended for commercial sites as well as an indulgent and addictive home brew.
Our recipe recommends a ratio of 1:8.5 (or 60g medium-coarse coffee to 510ml filtered water) for a concentrate suitable for dilution with ice, water or milk. Measure water into the water chamber and coffee into the coffee chamber, tapping the latter to settle the coffee evenly.
For best results, begin by opening the water valve fully to allow enough water through to saturate the coffee evenly. Close the valve and wait ten minutes, discarding any coffee that drips through in this period. Re-open the valve to one drip every two seconds, maintain this rate through the rest of the brew - this will take 6-8 hours, so you'll need to plan ahead (or invest in an intravenous coffee system for summer.)
Due to the extended brew time necessary for a tasty cold drip, we recommend using coarsely ground and light-roasted coffee from our filter range - our Hey Buddy blend is the house favourite. ?
