Good Coffee Doing Good is an initiative which was started here at Padre Coffee to make an impact in communities locally and around the world. Through sales of our Golden Rule Espresso Blend we raise funds for some really meaningful organisations and projects, donating $4 for each kilo sold across our retail and wholesale operations.
Our second Golden Rule partnership was launched in August of 2022 with The Social Studio.
The Social Studio is a social enterprise that uses fashion and creativity to create work and learning opportunities for Melbourne’s refugee and new migrant communities. Its goal is to embrace fashion, design and the creative arts as a vehicle for social change to uplift youth from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
It is with pride for us to announce that we have raised an astounding $18,768.20 for The Social Studio.
Our donation will contribute to initiatives such as the Student Pathways program. Dewi Cooke, the CEO of The Social Studio talked about the impact the partnership will have on such initiatives:
"This funding comes at a critical time for The Social Studio and will be put towards the important work of our free school for refugee and new migrant creatives, as well as our Student Pathways program which provides psycho-social and development support to our participants.
“It has enabled us to expand the depth of our services, including planning for a digital skills program which we hope to roll out in the second half of the year, providing paid training to graduates through our Work2Learn internship as well as additional mentoring and workshop opportunities. Thank you so much to Padre and its community for believing in the work of our small but mighty organisation!"
Our donation will contribute to these initiatives that provide talented participants one-on-one support to not only help with education and employment in the fashion industry, but also help with goal setting, career planning, study advice and social-emotional support.
